ADVOCACY TRAINING
The families are provided with a seasoned special educator who becomes
an advocate for the child with disabilities. This advocate helps families
establish partnerships with community resources and the school system to
ensure access to services and to provide opportunities to interact with,
learn from and befriend peers without disabilities.
Upon request, a S.N.A.A.P. advocate will attend treatment and educational
team meetings to ensure that all services and placement alternatives are
explored in order to help each child achieve his/her potential. Group and
family-specific education and advocacy training will also help families
become aware of the needs of, as well as available resources to their
children. Ultimately, families learn to be their child's own advocate.
If you are interested in learning more about S.N.A.A.P. or would like to
schedule a meeting with our S.N.A.A.P. Coordinator, please call 214-828-9900.
