“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dallas Services relies on volunteers to assist our staff in providing services to the adults, seniors, and children we serve. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities at our Day School and at our Center for Vision Health.
*All volunteers who work in a Dallas Day School classroom will be required to get a TB skin test and pass an FBI background check.

This volunteer opportunity provides a unique way for you or your group to give back to the community. Each Vision for Children Saturday Clinic needs a volunteer group of 8 to 12 to help provide comprehensive eye exams, glaucoma screenings and prescription eyeglasses to low-income children. Each Saturday Clinic serves an average of 80 – 100 children.
Working with CVH staff optometrists, the volunteers assist with client sign in, calling children back to see the doctor, administering the initial visual acuity test (the letter eye chart), assisting children in choosing frames and other needed tasks. Volunteers are needed from 7:15 am to 2:30 pm and Spanish-speaking volunteers are a plus.

Our Vision for Children Saturday Clinics are funded entirely through donations and grant funding from the community. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring a Saturday Clinic, please contact Patricia Melton at pmelton@dallasservices.org
As a nonprofit agency, there is always work to be done in and around our building. We have a variety of group volunteering projects; tasks such as painting, playground maintenance, organizing, stocking the family resource room and much more. We can tailor a project for your group and these projects can be completed during evenings or on weekends.
Special Events volunteers assist the Development Director and the Special Events Committee with creating and crafting meaningful special events. Special event volunteers help Dallas Services in keeping event expenses low and making the events more successful, thereby garnering more financial and public support for our essential vision programs. Volunteers are also needed for third party fundraising events and social media fundraising events.
Potential volunteer activities:
1) Work with the Director of Development to establish event roles and duties 2) Participate in the planning and implementation of event programming 3) Encourage community participation through ticket sales, sponsorship, and auction donations 4) Provide day of event assistance such as table and decorations set up, registration, awarding of prizes and closing of auctions
